The Ultimate Outdoor Bath Experience Near Busselton & Margaret River

There is something wonderfully relaxing about stepping outside, climbing into a warm outdoor bath and simply taking in your surroundings.

At Tree Chalets, our private outdoor baths are tucked amongst the tall Rosegum trees, giving you the chance to slow down, switch off and enjoy a little luxury in nature. Whether you’re soaking in the afternoon sunshine, watching the colours change at sunset or lying back beneath a sky full of stars, the bath becomes part of the Tree Chalets experience.

And once you’ve experienced an outdoor bath here, you may find you don’t want to leave.

Outdoor bathing, surrounded by nature

Each of our three luxury chalets – Bluegum, Rosegum and Grandis – has its own private outdoor cast-iron bath.

Rather than being an indoor bathroom experience, the baths allow you to step outside and become part of the natural surroundings. Tall Rosegum trees surround the chalets, birds call from the trees and, if you’re lucky, you may even spot kangaroos nearby.

It’s peaceful, private and a little indulgent – exactly what you want from a relaxing getaway.

The baths also have privacy screens, so you can completely relax and enjoy your time without distraction.

A luxurious cast-iron bath for two

Our outdoor baths aren’t just beautiful to look at – they’re designed to be enjoyed together.

Each bath is a 1800mm-long cast-iron bath, making it spacious enough for two people to comfortably soak together. There’s something rather special about having enough room to stretch out and relax without feeling cramped.

The solid cast-iron construction also gives the baths that wonderfully decadent, traditional feel. Combined with the warmth of the water, the surrounding trees and the privacy of your own outdoor space, it makes for a truly indulgent experience.

The baths are filled with heated rainwater, and we provide local bath salts for you to add to your soak. Slip into the warm water, settle back and let the peaceful surroundings do the rest.

Soak at sunset

One of our favourite times to enjoy the outdoor baths is late afternoon.

As the sun begins to disappear, the light changes through the Rosegum trees and the whole setting becomes even more peaceful. Pour yourself a drink, take a grazing board outside and settle into the warm water while the day slowly winds down.

It’s the perfect time to put your phone away and simply enjoy being together.

And if you time it right, you can stay in the bath as the last of the daylight fades and the evening begins.

When the stars come out

Then comes the really special part.

Once darkness falls, the outdoor bath takes on a completely different feel.

With very little light pollution around the chalets, the night sky comes alive above the trees. On a clear night, you can lie back in the warm water and look up at the stars and, at the right time of year and under the right conditions, see the Milky Way stretching across the sky.

It’s hard to think of a better way to end a day in the Margaret River Region.

Warm water, cool night air and a sky full of stars.

Add a grazing board to your bath

If you’re going to relax, you may as well do it properly.

Our handmade grazing boards are designed to make those slow moments at the chalet even more enjoyable. Add one to your stay and take it outside to enjoy alongside your bath.

With local produce and delicious little treats to share, it turns an ordinary soak into something that feels like a special occasion.

And there is no need to dress up.

A warm bath, your favourite drink, a grazing board and the trees around you is all you need.

Outdoor baths in winter

Don’t think outdoor bathing is only for warm weather.

In fact, winter can be one of the most enjoyable times to use the baths.

Imagine stepping outside into the crisp evening air and lowering yourself into steaming warm water. Stay as long as you like, then wrap yourself in a warm bathrobe and heated towel before heading back inside to the warmth of your chalet.

And there’s a fire waiting for you.

Our chalets have cosy wood fires, with all your firewood supplied. So you can settle in front of the flames, warm and relaxed after your bath, and enjoy the rest of the evening together.

It’s one of those simple experiences that makes a winter getaway feel particularly special.

Daytime baths are pretty wonderful too

Of course, you don’t have to wait until sunset.

A morning soak can be a beautiful way to start the day, particularly when the bush is quiet and the birds are becoming active.

Or take a bath in the afternoon after exploring the Busselton and Margaret River Region. Come back to the chalet, slip into the warm water and let your day slow down again.

The outdoor bath is there whenever you feel like using it.

And that’s part of the luxury – having nowhere you need to be.

Make the outdoor bath part of a special occasion

Sometimes a getaway is about more than simply taking a break. It’s about celebrating the people and moments that matter.

Our outdoor baths have become a beautiful setting for special occasions and memorable moments. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, anniversary or another milestone, sharing a private soak beneath the trees gives you a chance to make the occasion feel a little more special.

Looking for a way to give someone a special experience rather than another present? Our Tree Chalets gift vouchers are available for occasions including newlyweds, Valentine’s Day, birthdays and anniversaries – or simply “because you’re special.” It’s a lovely way to give someone the chance to slow down, reconnect and enjoy their own outdoor bath experience among the trees.

For couples, the baths can also be a wonderfully romantic part of a getaway. Imagine arriving for an anniversary stay, enjoying a grazing board and a glass of something special in the bath as the sun sets, then staying outside to watch the stars appear.

And for an even bigger moment, the privacy and beautiful natural setting can provide a memorable backdrop for a marriage proposal.

There’s no audience, no schedule and no need to make a grand production of it. Just the two of you, surrounded by the Rosegum trees, with the night sky overhead.

Whether it’s a big milestone or simply an opportunity to celebrate being together, sometimes the simplest moments become the ones you remember most.

Three chalets, three private outdoor bath experiences

All three Tree Chalets have their own private outdoor bath, so you can enjoy the experience regardless of which chalet you choose.

Chalet Bluegum offers a secluded escape among the Rosegums, with a private outdoor bath and plenty of space to relax.

Chalet Rosegum is surrounded by nature, with beautiful views from the chalet and its own private outdoor bath.

Chalet Grandis, our premium chalet, offers an elevated luxury experience among the trees, with its own romantic outdoor bath and beautiful views across the surrounding Rosegum plantation.

Each chalet is designed for two adults, giving couples the privacy and space to slow down and enjoy the surroundings.

How to make the most of your outdoor bath

If you’re planning a stay at Tree Chalets, here are a few of our favourite ways to enjoy the experience:

  • Choose sunset for beautiful changing light through the trees.
  • Add the local bath salts provided for your soak.
  • Take a grazing board outside and enjoy something delicious while you relax.
  • Bring your favourite drink and make an occasion of it.
  • Stay until dark and watch the stars appear.
  • In winter, have the fire ready for when you come back inside.
  • Leave your phone inside and give yourself permission to completely switch off.
  • Don’t rush. The bath is best enjoyed when you have plenty of time.

More than just a bath

While the outdoor baths are certainly a highlight, they are just one part of the Tree Chalets experience.

You can spend the morning exploring the walking tracks across our 90-acre property, enjoy a breakfast hamper filled with local produce on your deck, watch kangaroos grazing nearby or simply curl up with a book and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Later, you might head out to explore Busselton, discover some of the Margaret River Region’s wineries and local producers, or take a scenic drive through the surrounding countryside.

Then come back to your chalet, light the fire and finish the day with a soak beneath the stars.

That’s what we mean by luxury in nature.

Slow down and make time for a bath

Life can be busy. A getaway doesn’t have to be.

At Tree Chalets, our outdoor baths are an invitation to slow down, spend time together and enjoy the simple pleasure of being surrounded by nature.

Whether you soak beneath the afternoon sun, watch the sunset through the Rosegums, celebrate a special occasion or lie back beneath the night sky, an outdoor bath is one of the best ways to experience the peaceful side of the Margaret River Region.

Come for the trees, stay for the luxury, and make time for a bath beneath the stars.

We regularly travel these routes ourselves and are always happy to recommend the best option based on current road conditions.

Where are the best places to eat in Nannup?

Nannup may be a small country town, but it’s home to some fantastic food and coffee.

Our favourites include:

  • The Barista and the Blackwood Bread – A favourite with both locals and visitors, serving exceptional coffee alongside artisan sourdough, pastries and freshly made sandwiches. If there’s one thing you shouldn’t leave without trying, it’s their famous Reuben sandwich—it’s become a destination in itself and is well worth the drive.

After lunch, take some time to browse Nannup’s woodcraft galleries and artisan stores or enjoy a stroll along the Blackwood River before continuing your scenic drive.

Is there somewhere to stop for lunch in Balingup?

Unlike many South West towns, Balingup isn’t known for its pubs, wineries or breweries. Instead, the real attraction is the journey itself. The spectacular drive from Nannup, the peaceful village atmosphere and the beautiful surrounding countryside are what make a visit so rewarding.

We recommend collecting some local produce along the way—perhaps artisan bread, cheese, olives or fresh fruit—and finding a quiet spot to enjoy a picnic. Whether it’s beneath the magnificent trees at Golden Valley Tree Park or at one of the many scenic rest areas along the drive, slowing down and soaking up the scenery is all part of the experience.

It’s unlike any other shop in the South West and well worth a visit. Also make time to visit Golden Valley Tree Park, one of Western Australia’s most beautiful arboretums. Wander beneath magnificent trees from around the world, enjoy a picnic or simply soak up the tranquillity. It’s especially spectacular in autumn when the deciduous trees transform into vibrant shades of gold, orange and crimson.
  • Augusta – Visit the Augusta Boat Harbour, home to the world’s first commercial ocean-grown greenlip abalone sea ranch. Depending on availability, you may be able to purchase premium locally grown abalone directly from the outlet—an opportunity to take home one of the South West’s most celebrated seafood delicacies. Before heading home, stop at The Colourpatch Café & Bar for lunch or a coffee overlooking the Blackwood River.
